Samsung ends mobile phone production in China
Samsung Electronics has ended mobile telephone production in China. It has shut its last phone factory in the world’s biggest smartphone market, hurt by intensifying competition from domestic rivals. The shutdown comes months after Samsung cut production at the Huizhou plant in June and suspended another factory in late 2018. The South Korean firm claimed about 15 percent of the market share until mid-2013, but it shrank to just about 1 percent in the first quarter of 2019.
